Method...

It's the Method Wrap from Playin' Hooky!  I finished this little project for myself a while ago.
What else can I make in this color scheme?  I love it.  Might have to do a granny cowl or something.
I've gotten a lot of work done today due to the blizzard.  I think they named him Caesar.  We name blizzards now!

My queue on ravelry is very long.  I have a small list of fun Christmas gifts left to finish.

I did find this really cool pattern that I can't wait to buy and try!
Groovy Granny Square Potholders.

Scallops!

I love little scallops!  This is a vintage pattern from 1893.  The pattern was shown as a cute coaster, but after doing more research I also found it as a wrap.  I think it would be a cute scarf.  I mostly enjoyed the history of the pattern.  We seem to always try to find something new or reinvent the wheel, but sometimes it's not necessary.
More little coasters.  I had pinned the African Flower on pinterest a few months ago.  I found a couple different cute projects to try with it.  I thought I'd start with the easiest and do coasters.  Another fun pattern!

Intense

This week was intense.  I thought I would show up for this class and just hang out.  I was a little wrong! There was some hanging out, but mostly at lunch when we did homework.  If I needed them, which I don't, I would have received 45 hours of continuing education.  We had homework in groups, worksheets, and lots of reading.  We tested on Friday afternoon and now I have to wait up to 8 weeks for my results.  It was 100 multiple choice questions including pictures and 2 videos we had to watch and answer questions about.  I missed the boys, but am glad they were able to hang out with my mother in law for a few days.  I spent almost every evening driving home (90 minutes), studying, and then trying to sleep.  I ate, slept, and dreamed about my CLC class.  So, I'm glad it's over and I'm glad I did it.  I learned a lot and am really glad it was so intense.  It made it even more worth it.

We spent the last few days just the boys and I in Nebraska.  It's been fun spending time with family and the weather has been perfect.  I sure miss my hubby though.  It will be fun to see him Tuesday!

Here are a few projects I finished just before I left!

I made this pattern up as I went.  I used the ear pattern from Mamachee and the ear flaps from this free pattern!  I did the same thing for the dinosuar but used this pattern for the spikes.  Both of my boys now want dinosaur hats.  I think I will wait until next winter to start those.  I spent all of that time on their spring hats and it was 80 degrees in Nebraska today.

It's been a crazy week, but I'm glad I did it all.  I'm thankful that my husband, kids, and my friends were so supportive.

Tonight, I want to finish up two things!  First, Hudson really needs his booties.  Again, it's getting warm and he won't be able to wear them in a few weeks.  Second, I want to finish up my blanket for the Project Linus.  Petals to Picots is having a blanket drive.  Make one and give it to your local group!

Finished but unsure

I haven't blogged in a while.  The up and down of life and not knowing what to write kept me away for a long time.  Sometimes I can't get my thought-ducks all in a row and that causes a little anxiety!

My ipod must have known though.  A pod cast from Bold Cafe in November of 2010 came on while I was driving to Nebraska and had my ipod on shuffle.  I listened to it twice.

Even if I'm not having anxiety or worried about great things, the little things can have the same effect on me.  It's a daily reminder to live as a child of God, called claimed and loved no matter what.

The writer, Jessica Nipp, interviewed some friends for her article.  One of her friends stated
“On good days, I am able to pay attention to God, who is always seeking to remind me that I am loved because I am a child of God, not because of the number of tasks I am able to juggle.”

The author closes offering these words
"Here’s wishing you a lot of good days, a really loud voice of faith, and the absolute certainty that you’re always good enough in the eyes of God."

I feel like this is a benediction or a prayer as I start each day.  I want a loud voice of faith speaking in and through me. I want that absolute certainty of God's love to overshadow whatever doubt thinks it can creep into my mind.  I want to remember I am good enough for God through Christ's death on the cross.

**************

So, I've been absent but have been working on some things....
pattern- Galilee from Mamachee
I made my cutie this hat for his birthday.  Then I made his brother one with orange instead of green.  They look all springy and I love it!

I ran in a road race on Saturday.  I was very proud of my self and my time.  I ran a 7K in 40 minutes.  I am breaking the 10 minute mile mark and it makes me feel more and more like the runner I used to be.  I will never be running sub 7 min miles again, but under 10 feels really good.  I'm excited to continue training for the half marathon.

I'm spending the week in Nebraska.  I miss the boys terribly and have that guilt that I needed a break and glad I was able to get one.  I'm taking classes to become a Certified Lactation Counselor.  I have a passion for helping people who are nursing and feel there is a need in our small community for someone to do it.  Do I know what God is up to with this?  No.  Do I feel extremely called to take the class?  Yes. So I will do what God is asking me right now.  I will go to the class.  I will work on studying and passing the test.  Then, I will see what God wants me to do next.  One step at a time.

Go Jags!

Our boys basketball team is ranked #1 in the state and has been undefeated for the last two years (except the championship game at state- they were runners up!)  Anywho...the newest little fan needed a hat!  I am in love with this Mamachee hat.  The stitch pattern also comes in a scarf.  I have a feeling I will be adding to the boys hat collection soon!

I'm so happy to say that I was one of the two winners at Elisabeth's "About Crochet" Chain.Single Crochet project.  Every entry was great.  If you haven't checked out some of the other entries, do that.  I'm anxious to try this stitch with a few different projects.  This will not be the last time is ch.sc!
I must thank my hubby for the pictures.  It wouldn't have turned out as great if he wasn't a great photographer!
And if you haven't noticed, my blogoversary is THIS week. I have 2, that's right 2! giveaways planned.  Please make sure to stop back and enter to win some great prizes.  Happy 3 year anniversary to Who Am I?

Alpaca Yarn

I'm officially spoiled.  This alpaca yarn is amazing!  A family nearby me is actually raising alpacas for their wool.  This yarn came from Leah Marie and Rosie!  I'm hoping to meet the alpacas someday.  Sadly, I had to remove the scarf and give it to its rightful owner.  It was a lot of fun to try out a new yarn. It feels a lot different from acrylic and even other wool blends.  You can tell it is a natural fiber and it worked up really nice! Put alpaca wool on the splurge list for someday...

Frosty the Snowman

Frosty is my kids' favorite Christmas movie.  Heck, we'd even watch it in June.  Thankfully this summer the DVD got damaged and we waited until December to get a new one!  Anywho....
This hat is for my friend's aunt.  She had a few health issues and we're hoping this will keep her warm when she's able to leave her room and get out a bit.  I am IN LOVE with this yarn.  It's Tweed Stripes from Lion Brand.  It's a bulky weight so it works up quick and feels really nice.  I bought some black/gray tweed yesterday and had fun making a headband.

Finally, here are Frosty's kids, Snowman #1 and Snowman #2.  This was a pinterest inspiration.  (Pattern) I'm not really confident in my Amigurumi skills, but this was good practice.  I love these little guys.

Next on my list? A headband for myself (my ears are getting cold), a scarf for a friend from alpaca yarn (the alpaca's were raised a few miles from my house), a couple fun orders, and a cool single chain crochet project.  I'm actually excited for holiday travel.  Lots of crocheting in the car...

Tiny tiny flowers

I love making these little guys!  I've been using embroidery floss (DMC thread), my C hook, Sarahndipities flower pattern, and Mamachee's bow pattern to make them. (The one tiny rose is a Lion Brand pattern.) I am able to sew the little guys onto the barrettes but have been adding a dot of glue just to make sure they stick down.  If I had a girl I would make dozens.  Luckily I have some friends with little girls that I can make them for!

It's make something Monday over at Sarahndipities.

Headbands...

I don't have any girls, but I sure do love making little bows and headbands.  I made the bows from the same Mamachee pattern as before.  I used purchased headbands this time though.  It was very simple and now I'm not so worried that it won't fit a specific age group.  (My gauge is terrible sometimes.)

I also finished a headband.  This is a very fun and easy pattern!  I sent this with my friend to her store.  They are going to be open for the holidays and Saturday is our town Christmas festival.

I love the bows.  This is very weird.  I used to hate bows and flowers on things.  Now I can't get enough and love putting them on my bags.

I'm concentrating on only orders right now.  I'm excited to see the Christmas orders I have come together.  Then I have a plan for a few more things that are in my pattern book!

For me & the boys!

I made something for me.  I couldn't resist updating my bag and adding a bow.
I have a couple orders to finish but then I'm going to start a couple other new projects!
It's been a fun winter so far.  Lots of crocheting and trying new ideas!
The bow is from Mamachee if you missed my last post!  It goes on headband, but I like it as a pin too!

Dude was not happy about me interrupting play time!

A Speckled Frog pattern for the boys!  I wanted to try a brim on a hat and I love the texture of these guys.  I like to make the boys something handmade for the Day of St. Nick and you can never have too many hats in Minnesota!  The big one wanted a train hat, but I just didn't have time so I sewed a little button he picked out on each one.

The big guys is a little big, but it will work.  If I have time to make another I will.  No matter what it will still fit him next year!

bows, buttons, and flowers...oh my!

I'm in love with Mamachee patterns.  This bow is so cute and easy!  It goes on a headband, but I ended up sticking a pin on it.  I have one in a different color stuck on my bag!  I stuck this one in my etsy shop!

Also in the same headband pattern from mamachee is this flower.  Super simple and very fun.  I'm always looking for flower patterns that I like and have easy patterns to follow.

Little rose from Lion Brand.  Any yarn and any hook work for these guys.

I've been addicted to making pins lately.  I bought a plain bag a few months ago and have been adding some personality to it with my pins.  I never thought I would use them this much.  The next one goes on my coat!  It's cold in Minnesota!

Week 14: Craft Buster

A friend brought me these cute hats someone had knitted for her!  Her sweet little boy wore them the winter he was born.  She's due with a little girl in a few weeks and wanted me to change the hats up and make them more "girly".  Here they are.

Pattern found here or on ravelry here!

Oh this little bow!  The pattern can be found here or here on ravelry.  It was so simple.

This is a nice small flower.  I think it's great for a garland or a newborn hat.
You can find this pattern on ravelry here!

MSM- Kitchen Scrubbie!

Welcome to my new blog!  I decided to have a seperate space for my creative adventures and keep my writing over at my other blog!  I haven't linked up with Make Something Monday in a while.  I've been busy planning for a fall expo and church bazaar which means making the same couple items over and over...Here is something new!
A lady from church suggested the scurbbies!  I found some inexpensive tulle at my craft store and away I went.  I found 2 inch stripes was just the right size with my H hook!  This first one is a pattern from Lion Brand.  I did find that with tulle, it's best to double up.  I actually had the best luck crocheting two identical circles and then crocheting them together with the cotton yarn as I worked on the rest of the pattern.

This is my own pattern!  I crocheted two circles out of the red tulle and then turned it into a square!

This pattern is found on ravelry here!  In the bright colored one below, I did use the orange tulle!  The other one is just a simple circle.  I've been enjoying this project a lot.  Now, it's off to buy more tulle and finish a few more projects!

Week 13: Craft Buster

I love this flower pattern!  It is the same one I used to make a flower for my new diaper bag.  My friend's bag had some embroidery on it that just wasn't the right color and we needed to fix that.  I stash busted some yarn and made this flower to cover the embroidery.  It will work just perfect.  I put felt on the back and then two pins to make sure the flower stayed put and the embroidery didn't show.  I can't wait to see her bag.

Week 13: Oct 15th-21st
