Then, I hear Diana Nyad on NPR. She spoke to ME! Even my hubby looked over and said "did you hear that"? You can hear or read Diana's story here! At the age of 60 she is going to attempt (again) to swim from Cuba to Florida with no shark cage. This is what she said (to ME!).
That's what gives us a sense of purpose is commitment. Whether you've decided, I'm going to raise this child, this child's going to come first and I'm going to make this child a good citizen of the world. You know, to me that's the ultimate commitment.
I was seriously struggling with being a stay at home mom and forgetting the ultimate goal. The days might be long, hard, busy, and stressful. In the end though, I'm hoping to have made a difference in my children's lives. We choose for me to stay home. It is my purpose and that purpose means that I need to again commit everyday to my children.
Yes, I need me time and I get it. I also need to remember that these little people are my purpose. We baptized them both as babies and now I need to continue what I promised that day. I need to model Christ's love to them everyday!
AMEN!
AMEN.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. Sometimes the daily grind of being a mother can wear us out. And we forget the beauty of what we are doing. I love how NPR reminded you that raising children is a gift and work. Beautiful work.
Blessings on your day.

Those have been my exact sentiments as of late. I have made all of these goals of things I wanted to do after I graduated because I had more time, and I've come to realize that part of those goals needs to be spending as much time with my daughter as I can. Thanks for that!
ReplyDelete!! this sounds like a little MOPS article :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder today Lindy! I too needed to hear this!
