What just happened????

My son turned two is what happened!  We have been so busy and I have a million thoughts and "to do" lists swirling in my mind.  I have saved drafts for about 3 posts that I want to think on and my list for tomorrow is a mile long.  It all started on Saturday...
My wonderful family showed up on Saturday to help celebrate Martin's birthday.  More family showed up Sunday and even more people showed up for the party on Monday.  We had a wonderful day at the lake.  We celebrated with almost 20 friends and had a great time swimming and boating and grilling.  I couldn't have asked for a better day.  Perfect Minnesota, not too hot, not too cold and just breezy enough to move the bugs around.
After the party we got right to bed and woke up early Tuesday morning to drive to Nebraska.  We had a caravan of 3 cars leaving at all different times with the same destination.  My family lives in Nebraska so they were on the way home.  We were making a quick trip to celebrate with our wonderful friends Chrissy and Rob for Rob's ordination.  I love ordinations.  After 4 long years of seminary it is a defining moment in our lives of faith and the journey to which we as ministry families are called . It is neat to watch my husband now process with the other ordained pastors and to lay his hands on Robert and welcome him into the ministry of Word and Sacrament.  To help set apart the life of another to help spread the Gospel of Christ.  Ohhhhh I just love ordinations!  My friend Chrissy is going to be a great "pastor's spouse" and I am so glad we found each other.  We were only on campus together for one year, but have not gone more than a few days without an email or phone call in over 4 years.
The best part is the Chrissy and Rob are making our house a stop on the way to their new call in North Dakota.  Although a little out of the way, I will not complain.  We have some great plans made and some downtime to just hang out.  We both have toddlers who just turned two and Chrissy has a little peanut who is 4 months old.  It's going to be a full house and that's the way we like it.  I have less than 24 hours to pull my house back together after 3 nights with guests and one night not at home.  I can do it....
Here are a few pictures from the weekend!
Loving his bike from Nana and Pa.

"My cake".  It was a winner.  A perfect Thomas cake.  Thankfully the mother of a friend of a friend said she would be happy to make it.  Martin loved it!

Martin was sleepy, but one of our favorite places is on the boat.  We have great friends who let us always spend time with them at the lake and on the boat.  My kid is going to be a fish!

  1. OK. I don't think I made this connection before, but I have now!!! I'm guessing there is only one "Chrissy and Rob", in which Rob was ordained on Sunday, and headed to North Dakota.

    I knew I liked you. :-)
