I wish I had one of my completed throws to snuggle up with. As we speak the wind is howling like it's North Dakota and it's possibly going to freeze tonight. The cable is out so it gives us a chance to watch the movie I got for mother's day. I have secured the homestead and put blankets on all the plants and brought the hanging baskets in. Let's hope all is well in the morning!

A New Lease on Crocheting
I can't believe. I have been crocheting all wrong since I started. Really, I mean it! I checked out a few books from the library on crocheting the last few times I went in and boy did I learn a lot. I picked up The Complete Idiot's Guide to Knitting and Crocheting hoping it could help me with my granny square pattern troubles. Well it did. It showed me that I have been doing my stitches all wrong which would explain a lot of things. I was always having trouble with "gauge" or sizing and it showed me why. After we got home this evening I pulled out the book that I used to teach myself and realized my problem. Being somewhat of a visual learner, I had scanned the instructions and used the pictures to help me learn. Well, the pictures are not accurate. They are actually missing a critical step. I guess I learned my lessons. Read, read, read! Well now that I have it figured out I have a new lease on crocheting and I'm ready to start another project. Luckily I just have one project in the works that is done the "old" or incorrect way. I had recently finished up another purse and a block for a granny square throw. I feel comfortable tossing that square and starting over. As for the purse, you wouldn't notice unless I do another using the correct way and hold them up together! Oh the joys of learning.
