John 7:38

I've been working on this post for a while.  I spent last Thursday and Friday at the Synodical Women's Convention in Marshall.  It was fun.  Putting aside all the stereotypes you hear about "circle" and you can end up with a relaxing, enjoyable, spiritual, and uplifting experience.  I guess it's still true, life is what you make of it!

"Ou of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water."  John 7:38.  That verse was the theme and was also painted along the walls of the congregation where the event was held.  We are children of the water.  Baptized into the death of Christ and raised again to new life.  Come to the water!  We did.   The focus was on our baptism and living wet everyday.  Making sure that river flows out of you that was given to you in your baptism.  It's hard, but it makes everyday worth living.

One of the sessions I went to was on "paper beads".  I'm sure many of you have seen them.  They are beads rolled out of magazine paper.  I have a necklace from the triennial gathering in Salt Lake this summer and bought a few more things this time around.  They are beautiful beads and I'm sure very time consuming to make.  The women who spoke was a native of Uganda, but has been living in the U.S. for some time now.  Her job and calling is to try and help women in Uganda work their way out of poverty and one way is through beads.  They can either be rolling beads or crushing rocks in the quarry.  She said these women are so grateful we are willing to buy and wear these beads because it is giving them a new life.  The story was wonderful.  You can check out www.beadforlife.com to get more information.  My circle is hoping to do a bead party to help raise awareness and money for these women.

We had musicians and a program on Thursday evening.  The campus pastor from SMSU brought his family along to sing.  I listened to a young girl (probably 7) sing the following song and it brought tears to our eyes.  It was written by a man with the last name Clark for his daughter.  His daughter sang it for Garrison Keillor and his "Talents from Towns Under 2000" show a few years back and she won.  It was amazing.  After much searching I was able to find a version to download and I love it.   It was a good weekend!

Keeper of My Heart

You are my refuge
My shelter
My strong tower
My hearts defender
When I'm overwhelmed I cry out to you
You heal me by your truth
Keeper of My heart

You are my comfort, My protecter
Stream in the dessert
My spirit's armor
When my soul is parched you hold my head up high
You lead me by your truth
Keeper of my heart

Keeper of my heart
Anchor of my soul
I'm so glad to know you are in control
I give my life to you
Show me where to start
Guide me in your truth, keeper of my heart

You are my strength, my rock of ages
everlasting God of all creation
when my ship is tossed in the angry sea
My anchor holds with you, keeper of my heart

Keeper of my heart
Anchor of my soul
I'm so glad to know you are in control
I give my life to you
Show me where to start
Guide me in your truth, keeper of my heart

You fill my mouth with praise
For you are my hiding place.

Keeper of my heart
Anchor of my soul
I'm so glad to know you are in control
I give my life to you
Show me where to start
Guide me in your truth, keeper of my heart
