Dishwasher

Thank God for my dishwasher.  I'm serious.  It's running for the 2nd time today, but with a good reason.  I had 8 ladies over for circle this morning which involves breakfast.  I probably wouldn't have been able to host circle and maintain my sanity with a small child if I didn't have the dishwasher.  Let's do the math on this one...8 people = 8 plates, 16 cups, 16 pieces of silverware, 4 serving pieces, 1 coffee pot, and some other "random" items I need to actually make the breakfast.  I wouldn't even be close to done with them this evening if I didn't just pop them in my wonderfully loud and highly inefficient dishwasher.

The dishwasher reminded me of our hand me down portable one we had our last year of seminary.  BLESSING!  We were lucky to have the dishwasher and also have 6 friends who got together most every Wednesday night at a different persons house for "Wednesday night dinner".  I probably would have had a mild break down during my weeks to host if I didn't have the dishwasher.  Poor Martin was definitely too small to help with the dishes then.  I always felt bad leaving my friends house to a pile of dirty dishes, but was so thankful when they left mine I would run the dishwasher a few times and be done with it!

So in short, I love my old dishwasher and miss Wednesday Night Dinners and all the company that came along with it!

  1. We have a small "chef's kitchen", and therefore, don't have room for a dishwasher...

    but someday...

  2. Lindy, I feel very blessed to have found your blog. I speak as a Christian and a fellow pastor's spouse, so yes, it means a lot to me to find another whose heart I share.

Speaking of your dishwasher, I completely understand, and I have many memories of "making do" and accepting hand me downs and other gifts, which I am still not at all proud to do. These memories include a portable dishwasher, black & white television, ragged furniture, etc. I think these early unpleasantries made me appreciate things more now.

Many blessings to you and your family.

    In Christ's Love,

    Andrea
