Revision

So I'm having to revise my goals from earlier this year.  Here is the run down...

1.  15 minute clean up.  Yep, probably should keep trying to do that.  I admit it's hard.  Being a parent is hard and having two kids is still a challenge, but it needs to be done.  Luckily hubby will help out.  I haven't been as diligent in doing it lately and realized there are cobwebs everywhere and the bathroom is disgusting.  I will have to take it slow and know the house will still be messy, but little things do make a difference.

2.  Run a 5K in May.  Boo.  This will not be happening.  I do feel great and have recovered very quickly from having Matthew.  The problem is I started researching running and nursing and psyched myself out.  My main goal is to feed my son.  I don't want to have to worry about all of the (stop reading if this will make your nervous/uncomfortable) pumping and extra things that come along with such a high impact sport and maintaining my supply to feed my son.  So, instead I have been trying to walk and just started using a video I had.  So new goal use exercise video 3 days a week, walk 5 days a week. The tricky part will be the video, but walking for me is easy.  We have to walk to the post office, my kid will walk to get a donut at the bakery and he enjoys his stroller.  Thankfully Matthew just started taking a binky and so I think walks will go a little smoother since he won't be as fussy in the car stroller.

3.  Less computer time.  Um, not doing so well.  I use the computer A LOT.  I need to think about how I'm going to stop that.  Maybe one day a week not using it all?  (Probably can't do that).  Another option is to wait until naptime to check it for the first time that day.  The problem is I can nurse and use my laptop.  I will have to keep thinking of this one.

4.  More focused playtime with Martin.  Tricky with a nursing baby, but I am excited about my list.  I made a list of fun things we can do in the afternoon.  Most can be done with matthew in the baby bjorn because they are outside.  It is so nice to be able to be outside.  I still have to focus and be on top of myself about it.

So, those are still the goals and they are still a work in progress.

Goals!

I'm not much of a resolution person, but I've written down some goals that I want to try and work on this year.  I'm sure I will always come up with more but these are a start.  Habits take a month to form so I better get started before baby comes.

1.  15 minute clean up everyday.  It's probably something I do most days, but I want to be more accountable for it.  I put it on an extra line in my daily chore list from Motivated Moms.   My dream is that everyone in my house would do this, but I can't control the hubby or beg him or remind him.  So instead, I will start and see if maybe others (my hubby) will pick up on it.  Or maybe, most of the general "mess" in the house is mine and it will look better if I keep it up.

2.  Run 5K in May.  So this isn't the furthest I've run or anything, but the big race will be around 12 weeks after the baby is born.  So really, I have 6 weeks to get ready.  They call it the "friday 5" and the next day my hubby will run his first 1/2 marathon.  I know I can get up to running the 3 miles with only 6 weeks, but I can't promise it will be "fast".

3.  Less computer time.  Geez, I just need to put this silly thing away.  It's so easy to have a laptop and just haul it around the house and use it all the time.  I need to find some tangible way to meet this goal.  I don't know if a time limit is the best idea, but something where a certain time of day the computer is in the office with the door closed.  I will have to think more about this one, but I'm hoping that just realizing how much time I spent on this silly thing will be enough to help me lessen that!

4.  More focused playtime with Martin.  Also, no tangible way yet to measure this.  I'm thinking for myself I need to set a timer and just "play" with him.  I just don't do well with that.  There is always something else to do and I have trouble putting it aside.  So I will start small and just see what happens.  It's so easy to fill his cup with my time.  I just need to make sure I am giving him as much as I can.
