A fresh start

I have been thinking a lot about my 14 things I want to do this year.  It seems things have changed a little.  The fire and smoke damage to our house has changed some things.  I wouldn't say the fire caused this change of heart and renewal, but it kind of did.  So, here is my updated list of things.  Let's see if I can accomplish any of these things.
14.  Do the declutter in 2013 challenge from Slow Your Home.  Starting in April I'm going to do a 40 bag declutter.  I'm hoping for 5 bags a week of toss or donate items.  The challenge was a great idea, but my house has kind of been through the ringer and I don't need to work on some of those things anymore.  I think this 40 bag challenge will get me going and see where I stand after all the smoke damage.

13.  Get a handle on the yarn stash.  Wake up at 6:30am everyday.  I need a plan and a routine.  I need to attack each day like it holds something important and I want to be ready for things.

12.  Crochet a real granny square blanket. We are keeping this one.  I am hoping to use my favorite yarn, cotton-ease, and make a big one.

11.  Pay off the car.  Financial Planning and Tax Preparation.  We just finished an insurance claim and our taxes.  Our priorities are similar but I want to look at the bigger picture.  So, in the end I know the car will be paid off, I just need a wider view of the process.

10.  Reread and finish reading books I just found on my kindle/shelves.  Books include Pastrix, Holding Your Family Together, Money Secrets of the Amish, and Inside-Out Simplicity.

9.  Do one thing on my Minnesota bucket list.  *Hello Duluth or Itasca State Park and other state parks*

8.  Finish the kids books of yearly pictures and update their baby books.

7.  Run a 10K in under an hour. Plan my weekly workouts & work out 5 days a week.  I still love to run, but I'm having trouble with routine and things.  Hopefully this goal will help.  I want to plan my work outs like I do our meals.  Get it on the calendar, but mix it up enough to not get bored.

6.  Do something special for our 10 year anniversary.

5.  Send out Easter cards (since we missed Christmas...)
We will be sending out post Easter cards!  I did get a time scheduled to have some pictures taken.  I'm really excited for our first family pictures as a crew of 5!

4.  Throw a "friends" birthday party for each of the boys.
This is still my goal, but my middle boys birthday happened 2 days after the fire.  We are going to do a friend party for his "re" birthday (baptism day).  I have given myself  until May 2nd.

3.  Read a devotional *frequently*.  Let's be honest, every day sounds great, but I'm being real.

2.  Slowly start to help/do things at church/MOPS again.  *Being pregnant and having a baby was tough work!*
God has been speaking to me these last few weeks.  I'm not sure what the whispers are about this topic, but I'm listening.  They might be different than I originally thought.

1.  Pray for my kids and husband everyday!

  1. I am in favor of fresh starts. Did I miss something? When did you have a fire? I should do the "40 bag declutter challenge" with you! I was going to start it in March and never did. If you want some company, let me know! I have way too many books on Kindle and in paperback that I am trying to get through this year. So far, I've read two. I'd better get to reading.

    1. We had smoke damage from a furnace fire. We were out of our home for about 3 weeks. So glad we weren't home and are all safe!
