The Overload

I'm a goal setter.  The tricky part is, I like to accomplishment my goals no matter what.  I will stay up late, allow my attitude to become nasty or even hate doing the project.  What kind of accomplishment is it, if I don't even want to do it?  This is where I become overloaded.  There are so many things I want to accomplishment this year.  I run straight from the crazy of Christmas to the overloaded expectations of January.  I think I can do so much.  It seems like after Christmas I can wipe the slate clean and start over.  Instead, my slate just gets fuller and fuller until I can't even read what I wrote.  I want to carefully look at my goals and I want to make them things I can be accountable for and that I can accomplishment.  I've been thinking long and hard about my goals.  Here is the first one!

Run 500 miles in 2012.

My friend Jill did this last year and is so close to finishing out her goal.  It breaks down to a little less than 10 miles a week.  This is very doable for me.  I did have to chat with my hubby to make sure he was on board.  My running usually involves him watching the kids.  We don't run on a treadmill or anything so I will have to make up some miles this summer when the winter weather gets the best of us.  I'm sure my 1/2 marathon training will only help me rack up the miles.  So, here to 500 miles starting January 1st.

Okay, my 2nd goal

52 embroidery Projects.

What I really want is to do an embroidery project once a week, but that adds a little pressure.  Instead, I just want to give myself the opportunity to learn new skills and focus on another hobby that I enjoy.  Most of my projects will probably be tea towels but I know there are lots of other things out there that you can embroider- squares for a quilt, embroider little felt projects and sayings.  Lots of ideas and now a goal to help get them done.

After this I get stuck with my goals.  If I listed all of my crochet possibilities it would go on forever.  Oh the things I want to accomplish with yarn.  I really want to work on cleaning out the clutter in my house, but I'm not sure how to go about that.  (Really, I just want to send the kids away for a weekend and lock my husband in the magic closet so he can organize and clean it out!)  There are always financial goals and giving goals, faith goals, goals for my house, my parenting and so much more.  It's sorting out what I really want to focus on and what is just a habit that I need to keep.

  1. What about a jogging stroller mega woman? I'm thinking about trying for a half marathon next year, but like you I HATE not doing something I set out to do...so I want to be sure it is feasable and all that jazz. Running 500 is totally doable!
