I'm just tired already thinking about December! I've decided to give myself some goals.
What? Am I crazy?
The goals I'm thinking of though are ones that will keep me accountable to my priorities. I want a few goals for December that won't let the craziness and busyness of the season (like cleaning and baking for my open house) interfere with what I'm really called to do. So, here we go!
My Kids
1. Read everyday outside of nap & bedtime. Man, we are good at reading before bedtime, but I rarely pull out a book during the day. Everyday this month I'm going to read to my kids outside of bedtime.
2. Color with them. My oldest does not like to color. So everyday I want to color or do a more hands on creative activity with him.
My hubby
1. Go on a date to a place we've had a gift card for since this summer!
2. Divide & conquer with the kids. We discussed a while ago that we want to spend individual time with the boys. I want to make time to take the boys and do something by myself with them. Give them some individual time with each parent.
My spiritual life
1. Read a Psalm morning and night. I love the Psalms. I have read two books by Dietrich Bonhoeffer on the Psalms and just feel a real connection to them!
My life
1. Make one item a week to be donated or given away. I already have a plan. I know there are a few people who could use a meal or a little pick me up!
2. Spend less time on the computer. I'm very good about this on Wednesdays. Just ask my friends....I rarely answer the phone and I don't check my email at all during nap time on Wednesdays while my oldest is at school. I want to put into effect a "no computer" rule from about 12 to 5. We will see how that goes.
I loved this post...so true. I've struggled with the whole December/Christmas panic for a few years and have had to learn to eliminate a lot of activity clutter from our lives during the holidays. Great idea to post out your goals...writing things down always helps me, too.
ReplyDeleteI love reading at nap time and bedtime, but it is almost MORE relaxing (at least for me) at other times of day, since I'm not checking the clock or feeling the need to say, "One more book . . . okay, ONE more . . ." Plus, I will take any excuse to snuggle with my daughter.
ReplyDeleteLove your goals list! I really need to try the computer one! Maybe I'll work on that this week!
