It's worth it...

What a wonderful day!  Sometimes the best stuff is the impromptu stuff!  We ended up having some friends over for dinner before trick or treating.  I love the laid back feeling of just having people over...It was pizza and it was planned quickly.  There was no expectation which seems to make things just a tiny bit better.  We ate and then got the kiddos all dressed and went out the door our separate ways to get candy. Our little crew only visits the people we know.  We have a small little circuit of about 10 people we can pull the wagon to go see.  We planned it just right and both boys were ready to be home after the last person.  They have just enough candy and were still acting very cute!

It was worth it today...Sometimes we build things up as parents and just people in general.  This holiday must meet all of these expectations and must go according to plan.  I'm glad it didn't!

Sunday afternoon we had a melt down.  My oldest was crying hysterically about his costume.  He still wanted to be a cowboy.  I had asked him the week before what he wanted to be for sure.  I was all ready to click "buy" on a cute cowboy costume when he decided to be a fireman.  I quickly bought into that idea because we had everything we needed.  You can read more about that here!

In the end, the time I spent on his costume was worth it.  Without leaving the house I was able to sew him a cowboy vest and badge complete with a belt buckle.  It was worth it because he wore it all day and is sleeping in it.  I'm not kidding....That smile on my kids face was enough to make those couple hours of work worth it.

It was also worth it because I wanted to do something crafty other than crocheting.  I said I needed a prize for my work on that costume, but that's not true!  I will remember this face for a long time...

Yee haw!

Sometimes the best plans aren't really plans at all!
