MOPS

My annual "first day of MOPS" photo!
Today was our first MOPS meeting of the year!  It's always a crazy one.  My alarm rang at 5:45 so I could finish my food, shower and be to the church by 8am.  (This means leaving my house around 7:15).    The moms were so excited.  The kids in child care were actually really good!  The two year old room had it's moment, but everybody came around.  Even my baby stayed in his room!  It's a miracle.  Well, a miracle in the form of a caregiver from our church that knows my boys.

Why yes, we're all sharing an ice cream cone!
This is post MOPS at BK.  It's always good for a few laughs.  As usual, the D kids and the Mc kids along with my kids close the place down!

Here are my 4 "first day of MOPS" pictures!  My kids have changed!

My love of MOPS should be evident in my posts.  It is a place where I truly feel welcome.  Sometimes in other situations I feel the need to defend my "stay at home mom" status or remind people that they have stereotyped stay at home moms and it just isn't true!  And just for the record, MOPS isn't just for stay at home moms.  My group just happens to be mostly stay at home moms because we meet during the day!  MOPS believes that "better moms make a better world".  There is no qualifier about what kind of mom you are!

I'm a college graduate (with honors!), who loved my previous job as an assistant manager at Pier 1 (I was the employee of the year!), who sometimes misses working, but realizes that this what God has called me to do.  I own it, people!  I do not have to make excuses for why I do what I do.  I spend time explaining to other people that "it's not hard', but "it is hard".  It's rewarding, just like any other job!  Stay at home momming (is that a word?) knows no boundaries.  I sit across the table from a biologist, a teacher, a nurse, and so many others who had previous jobs outside of being moms.  We feel this call to stay at home.  I have faith that God's plan for my life is more than I will ever imagine.  In that faith, I know that God is bigger than the crunch of a single income family.  My faith knows that God is bigger than a gap in my resume when it comes time to find a job in the future.  My faith in God tells me I'm doing the right thing for my family.  I think what I was getting at when I posted today about the song Do Everything was "own it, people".  Own what God has called you to do.

  3. I always looked so forward to my MOPS days. Those mornings were a refuge. I miss MOPS. My girls and I have "graduated." ... However, I get to go back and speak to a MOPS group in January, and I can't wait!

    Thanks for sharing your photos.
