The grace of being a parent...

I have seen the grace of God in the face of my kids!  Constantly over and over from birth my kids offer mercy, compassion and forgiveness to me.  If parenting has taught me anything it all about grace!

Recently I thought about a quote I heard from an interview a few years ago with John C McGinley.  He played Dr. Cox on Scrubs (one of my favorite shows).  He has a son with down syndrome and was interviewed about it on the Today Show.  I found the transcript from it and I just love what he says.  While my kids have no special needs and are healthy, it really resonated with me.

He says, "then you realize that this a--this is a gift, this child is the light, he's--he's--and if you can nourish that light and just--and let it shine, you have an opportunity to--to get closer to what I think is God, and that's--and that's grace, you have a chance to be graceful, and..."

I have a chance with my children to see grace face to little blue eyed face.  To continually try to love better, be more patient, and try harder!  I have a chance to fan little flames that will shine the light of God to the world.

The grace of being a parent is amazing...
