It was a quick trip to NYC for me! I'm glad I went although I missed the boys terribly. They must not have missed me though. The Big M was super excited to see my mom when we came in and the Little M was maybe mad at me or something. Both seemed indifferent that I was gone! Oh well. We've had some fun snuggles and are off on a picnic while Daddy is still gone!
Since I've been to NYC a few times before we are always looking for something we haven't done. We found some fun things this time. The High Line Park was our favorite this trip. It's a park built on top of two old abandoned railroad tracks that were about two stories high. It's located on the west side of Manhattan and started in 1930 to relieve some of the dangerous freight traffic from the busy industrial areas. No trains have run since the 1980s. The plan was to just tear it down, but somebody had a vision. And now, you have High Line park. Well worth it folks. The newest section just opened up at the beginning of this month. Neat little places to sit, great places for artists to draw and paint, it is clean because they lock it up every evening and the many volunteers keep the plants looking spectacular!
We also visited the Cloisters. It was okay. On the way we found a piano and my mom and aunt did the typical sister duet! And who can resist a silly picture in the subway. The whole reason for the trip was my sister and brother in law's wedding reception in NYC. I got to wear my fun dress again and truly enjoyed meeting some new people! We finished our trip with another showing of Wicked! It was wonderful. It was interesting to watch it with a different eye this time. I've seen it before and know the music, but I also know how productions work because my sister and b-i-l are on tour with Les Mis right now. What I found most enjoyable was how much fun the main characters G(a)linda and Elphaba were having. I know the shows can get long and sometimes it is just a job one evening. These two were genuinely having fun. We can't figure out why. It could have been a new lead or somebody back from vacation, but we saw lots of little smiles and laughs and a big hug at the end. (The little smiles and laughs we witnessed was because we were sitting in the 5th row!)

I haven't taken a picture of the giant amount of yarn I bought, but I got to visit the Lion Brand Studios. I love that place! I also love their cotton-ease but have a hard time finding that yarn in my local stores. It was nice to come home with about 15 skeins of my favorite stuff and 3 new projects to work on. We ate at Otto Enoteca Restaurant. Best pizza I've had maybe ever (and the gelato was pretty fabulous too). Mario Batali sure knows what he's doing! After Otta, we made a pit stop at Washington Square. Lots of fun with the ladies in my family!
Now, the boys and I are off to a picnic! It's kind of nice to be home!
Looks like you had a fabulous time!
