Small Town

I live in a small town.  A really small town.  We have less than 700 wonderful folks making this place their home.  My kiddos and I have a little routine most days.  We walk to get our mail (we live in a box.  HA) and then over to the bakery.  At the bakery, my son already knows what day they make things.  Most of the town does.  Monday they don't bake, Tuesday and Wednesday they do cookies and other pastries and Thursday is the greatest day of all, sour cream donut day.  So, we get the mail and pick up a treat and then head home.  Yesterday we added the meat locker to our trip so I could get some ground beef.  We were walking along with our treats when I saw "the lady".  I'm not sure who she is, but for lack of a better term, she's "different".  She lives in the little motel with her dog Ruby.  She saw me coming from a mile away with my baby stroller.  She politely asks if she can look at my baby and I say yes.  She then tries to get the toddler to pet her dog.  Now, the lady with no teeth is scaring my toddler and so is the dog.  Finally my toddler touches the puppy with a little finger and laughs.  Then he pets the dog.  This is a big day in his life, he's never touched a dog before.  I start to do the "we better get going routine"and try to head over to the meat locker since it's almost closing time.  She then asks me how old my baby is.  I tell her and she says "you look so good, that's just great.  You look great".  I say thank you.  "Do you nurse?"  Say, what? Did she just ask me that?  I say yes and then she goes into this monologue of how wonderful nursing is and I'm doing a great job and she is so happy I'm nursing.  So, the crazy lady made me feel really good about myself.  I told my hubby I don't care if she's different or crazy, I want to walk by the motel everyday so someone can tell me I look great and am doing a good job.  I love small towns!

PS- Today is pie day in town!  I can't wait...
