Have I mentioned I love my new cookie press? (Well, new to me. It was my grandma's.) I decided I should make some cookies for our vacation. I love how the peanut butter cookies turn out in the press and they are just the right size for my toddler. The best part of baking today? My house was a mess. It's true!
I love baking when my house is a disaster. It provides me with a challenge. First, I have to clean the kitchen. When I bake, I like to pretend I have one of those beautiful clean kitchens from the magazines. (I do have a great kitchen, just not so clean....) So usually this involves emptying the dishwasher, loading it, cleaning the counters and then closing my eyes and pretending for a minute. See, I'm already off to a great start. I get the kitchen semi cleaned.
Then I get to bake, relax, and plan my attack on the house. Bring it on house! When I stick the first sheet in, I clean the baking stuff up. Then, I just see what else I can get accomplished with each sheet. I got a load of laundry done, the dining room table cleaned off, and my email checked. Now, I get to enjoy a cookie and chill out for a minute before I tackle more laundry and our vacation packing list for tomorrow. I love baking!
