Christ still came!

Christ still made it even though we are in the midst of the blizzard.  Today is day #3 of being snowed in.  People are getting a little more antsy now that the warnings and watches are over.  I can see more cars on the highway from my living room, but the roads are all still listed as "difficult" to drive in.  We are hoping to make it to Nebraska to see my family and then to North Dakota later in the week to see my hubby's family.  We are planning on leaving tomorrow, but the snow has not stopped falling in either place for over 3 days.  We'll see!

Christ still came though.  We did have to cancel Christmas Day services at the country church for safety reasons, but held Christmas Eve worship as planned and almost 100 people braved the storm to welcome the Light into the world.  I must say I'm not feeling very "Christmasy" with all of the craziness in preparing and being part of a pastor's family.  I am also still in a bit of denial that for the first time since 1992 we won't be going to Arizona.  My grandma just wasn't feeling up to it this year so we will celebrate in the great state of Nebraska.

The blizzard is still going, but my boys have had fun...They built a "frosty" (a snowman) yesterday.  (Pictures will be coming).  They have played outside everyday since it's actually been nice and above 20 degrees every day.

Day #1, the snow was up to about his knees and by Day #3 I'm sure it's over his thighs.  The drifts from our snow plow make it so he can't get into the yard from the sidewalk.  He loves it though.  We have between 12 and 15 inches at this point if not more.

I have started the baby's blanket and even managed to get a few tax things done.  I hope to get some cleaning and laundry done today so that if we leave tomorrow, I'm ready.

Martin truly enjoyed opening presents.  He found Handy Manny tools in his stocking and told us he didn't want to open anymore presents after that . He changed his tune and found some Thomas the Train cars and some books.  We got to open a few gifts from church members, but can't wait for our concert in April that we gifted each other.  John Mayer here we come!

We can't wait to start vacation and I'm looking forward to the Christmas spirit lasting a little while longer so I can "get into it".  We were blessed this year and this season beyond our wildest imagination.  May the Christmas spirit last for a long time!
