Wow, I have had this post saved as a draft for a while! The picture above is the book we are doing for my "bible study". I use the term "bible study" loosely as it is more a spiritual practices group. Joyce Rupp is the author of "May I Have This Dance". I have used the book before and love it. She is a wonderful poet and writer. She is also a nun with the Catholic Church and runs many spiritual retreats. This is an updated version of her original book and includes a guided meditation. My group loves the meditation. We are working on being quiet. You must be quiet to hear God's voice. The book is set up for monthly studies. She has included daily readings which is a nice way to make sure we open our bibles everyday.
We started with September because she focuses a lot of her writing on the season or month that we are in. Septembers reading was about being an instrument of God. More importantly letting the Holy Spirit blow his breathe into you and play God's melody in your life. Wow. Do I let the Holy Spirit blow through me? Are people seeing that in my life everyday?
By letting the Holy Spirit blow through your life and play the melody that is you, you are also allowing God to change you and carve you into the instrument God wants you to be. It can be painful and a long process, but in the end the melody only gets sweeter. I pray I can open myself up to the melody God has in store for me. It will be more beautiful than anything I can compose for myself.
