Busy Weekend

My mom came this weekend which was really nice.  We were super busy with the chili cook off to raise money for the youth trip to New Orleans.  We didn't count on Martin getting sick though.  Thankfully my mom was around to help.  

We ended up taking Martin to urgent care and then putting him on antibiotics for the first time in his life.  The doctor thought maybe it was an ear infection, but wasn't 100% sure.  He is feeling better already and running around.

The chili cook off at church was a big success.  We didn't win, but there is always next year.  People love a chili cook off because it's more interactive than just going to a dinner.  We also had a silent auction and bake sale.  It was a very successful fundraiser, but I'm still trying to recover.  So if you have a good chili recipe pass it on.  We're going to need it for next year!

This next weekend we are headed to Dubuque and I'm so excited.  It will be a great long weekend away.  I will see my friend Chris and her new baby (and other daughter and husband) on Saturday and then be able to actually worship with Bryant on Sunday.  What a treat.  The best part could be pedicures on Monday while the kids all have a baby-sitter!  Stay tuned...
