To Be Thankful

I have thankfulness bubbling over today.  Here are a few things that have me so happy!

  • Our family doctor.  I read an article (forgive me, I can't remember where) that talked about doctors only spending 20 minutes with each patient and giving you tips to make the most of that.  Well, they haven't been to our doctor's office.  For my healthy child's one year visit, he spent 45 minutes with me.  Nope, I wasn't waiting on him, he was talking to me.  The baby has had some issues that we are still resolving, so we talked about that, he did some research, he checked him over, he talked about food and my son's (lack of) milk drinking.  He and his nurse are amazing.
  • The ELCA assignment process which got us to where we are today.  We affectionately call it "the draft" but it is a time of prayerful placement for graduates awaiting first call.  You can read about it here.  Even if you only read the first few paragraphs it might help explain how some pastors get to where they are!
  • A good run!  Need I say more?  My hubby spent 13 hours at work yesterday so he took some time at home today.  That allowed me to RUN!  It feels good.
  • My dirty house and more importantly the people who could care less.  My hubby and boys are so good about just going with the flow in the house!
  • Lent.  I'm glad Lent is coming.  My hubby said he wrote about connecting more with God during Lent and how he is going to do that.  He used the verse Micah 6:8- the Lord requires you to "do something".  He is going to "do something" instead of giving up something for God this year.  (Actually he's doing both, but that's another post).  I'm anxious to start my own practice.  I always try and sometimes fail every year.  Let's see how God speaks to me this next week as I decide what I either want to give up, get more of, or do for God.
He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
