“God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny.” - Garrison Keillor
I find Garrison Keillor pretty funny. Maybe it's because I now live in Minnesota and can relate to a lot of what he says when talking about "Lake Wobegon". If you don't know, Garrison Keillor hosts a show a show on public radio called "A Prairie Home Companion". It's an old fashioned radio show and pretty darn funny.
Anyway, I like this quote. It hits home that's for sure. God does write comedy, also joy, happiness, and love into our lives. The problem is at times I try to play the director and the actor. I can't be the director and participate on stage in my life. When I am on stage, I fail to see the big picture God has in store for me if I'm set on directing myself and those around me. I can't see what is coming from stage left or right. If I want this "comedy" to turn out for the glory of God, I must remain the actress, not the director. God has the big picture in mind, I just have to turn over my own self to become the actress needed to do God's will.
We love prairie home companion too!
ReplyDeleteWords I desperately needed to hear tonight. I need to be the actress. An obedient one at that.
