Reading

I think a lot about what I want Martin to know and remember when he grows up. Values I want him to know we followed and those types of things. One thing I remembered today was reading. During bible study we were discussing books we've read. All kinds of fiction and non-fiction and one lady said "I really don't read". We asked her why. She said it's not that she didn't like to it's just that she always felt she had something else to do and couldn't spend time reading. Immediately I felt like calling my parents to thank them for showing and giving me "permission" to read. My family reads all the time. They still do. Different kinds of book on all subjects and topics. I never felt like I had to have "permission" to read or wait until everything was done. My parents spent time reading almost every night. My dad loves to read so much he listens to audio books so he can "read" while going about his day around the house. Bryant's family is very similar. It just reminded us how much we want Martin to feel that same why. The list will always be there. Sometimes you can take a break and read and that's just fine. I like giving myself "permission" to read during his naps even though the laundry isn't done. I feel much better when he wakes up and I can usually still get the laundry done. So I think I will go pick up my book for a few minutes!
